Working with rescues is a lot like being a detective. We often wonder about what kind of past has been experienced. What got them where they are now. Yesterday we had another call about talking to a potential owner surrender. We rarely know much going in these calls. But we immediately posted the need for a temporary or permanent home for her. In our first year of offering counseling we have learned we really cannot judge the dog or the people with few facts known. We learned the couple surrendering Layla had adopted her this summer to prevent her death. They had hoped to get her healthy and find her a new home. They did not succeed in ... (Read More)finding her a home and could no longer give the care she needed. We immediately took her to the vet to get her fully vaccinated. The staff at Macon Road immediately recognized her as a former patient. They looked at her records and shared that her original owner was being deployed to Korea. At some point Layla was put into boarding and then her payments stopped. So she was taken to animal control where she was saved and brought back to good health. This beautiful girl needs to be in a home. She has some separation issues but can you blame her. Will you be the one shows her that home can be forever? Animal SOS is covering her HW treatment.     We met this girl at Columbus Animal Care & Control Center on Monday. It was obvious her back leg was injured, so this morning we had Dr. Glass at Macon Road Veterinary Clinic look at it. She needed surgery to put in a pin to allow the break to heal properly. We need a place for her to heal for the next month, then to find her a loving family to care for her the rest of her life. Lucy, as we named her, is young, probably just over a year old. Please help us help her. If you are willing to either adopt or at least give her a quiet place to recover, contact us IMMEDIATELY We will be covering her spay after she heals from her leg surgery.
